On Saturday 9 November we held the Autumn fair in the
Congress Suite and foyer. The weather wasn’t kind to us – in fact it couldn’t have been
worse. The horrendous rain, thunder and lightning thankfully didn’t dampen our spirits, but
unfortunately we did seem to have fewer visitors than normal. Our refreshment team was
busy right from the start: they opened early so that they could provide hot drinks1 for the
members of the public who were queuing to buy tickets for the rescheduled Daniel
O’Donnell concert (we were told that some had been queuing all night) but it was all good
for our funds!
There were a number of competitions and we are very grateful to all those who donated
prizes, especially local hotels and restaurants who very generously donated “Meals for
Two” which is always a popular draw. We are also extremely grateful to all members and
friends who volunteered to help and / or donated a variety of items for the fair. Last but
not least we must mention our wonderful cake-makers. The cake stall is always well
supported – as you can see below – so we say a sincere “thank-you” to all of you for your
contributions and hard work.
