157 members of the “Friends” met up at the Floral Hall in the Winter Garden to become amateur sleuths and try to solve the mystery of who killed the tea lady at the Nottle on the Marsh Amateur Dramatic Society  while rehearsing for their annual pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk”. This was a Murder Mystery afternoon complete with an excellent tea and Chris Jordan, writer of the past 13 years’ pantomimes at the Devonshire Park, took it upon himself to write a “whodunnit?” and persuade a number of his acting friends to give their services free for the benefit of the “Friends”. The talented cast consisting of  Ian Marr, Natasha Jordan, Patric Kearns, Amanda Wells, Kevin Pallister, Stephen Wells, Moira Brooker, Nikki Leach, Tim Sitwell and Chris Jordan, himself led us up and down the garden path until all was revealed. One table of eagle-eyed members managed to successfully solve the crime while another identified all the different murder mystery plays mentioned during the course of the play and most of their authors. More than £1000 was raised in the process for the Friends’ funds. Anyone wishing to join the “Friends” should contact the new members Secretary, Jackie Knights on 01323 720198.
