Around a hundred Members were joined by The Major of Eastbourne, Councillor Janet Coles, her Consort, Jill Rutherford, and Stephen Lloyd MP for a very successful and happy celebratory dinner at the Chatsworth Hotel on Friday 10 October, the culmination of events to mark thirty years since the formation of the Friends.

Chairman, Lesley Raven, welcomed everyone who settled down to enjoy their meal following Grace said by Vice-Chairman, Tricia Sneath.   The Loyal Toast, proposed by past chairman and honorary member, Lois Hughes, was followed by an address by The Major and response by the Friends’ first Chairman, Spencer Freeman, MBE.  Both expressed support for the work of the Friends over its thirty-year history and Spencer Freeman stressed the importance for everyone to continue to support the theatre by attending on a regular basis.

The cabaret was introduced by Master of Ceremonies, Edward Thomas, who was pleased to welcome back Duality.  To the amusement of those present he donned a captain’s cap for, as he explained, Duality had made their name performing in the cabaret on cruise liners!

A raffle was held during the evening, raising £245.

All in all, a wonderful evening.
