In this unique adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel,  A Christmas Carol , Clive Francis reprises his acclaimed RSC performance as the misanthropic Ebenezer Scrooge, inspired by Dickens’ first reading and performance on 27 December 1853 at the Birmingham Town Hall.

This clever production adapted and devised by Clive himself brings to life a whole host of Dickensian characters, from the spectral Jacob Marley to the warm and loving Bob Cratchit and his son Tiny Tim. Not forgetting, of course, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Clive, who was brought up in Eastbourne, returns to the Devonshire Park Theatre where his acting career began to bring his hugely successful and popular show for one matinee performance only on Wednesday 18 November.  After the performance Clive has agreed to remain on stage for a question and answer session.

Clive Francis is a long-standing Patron of the Friends of the Devonshire Park Theatre and The Friends are proud to be able to sponsor this performance which means that some of the proceeds will be used by The Friends on projects in the theatre.

Tickets priced at £12.50 (£11.00 for Friends of the Devonshire Park Theatre) are available from the theatres’ website or by phoning the box office on 01323 412000.
