Around 120 Friends gathered in a festive-looking Gold Room at the Winter Garden on Sunday 7 December for this year’s Christmas Celebration.

The afternoon’s entertainment kicked off with nine members of the talented Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Brass Band playing a number of favourite Christmas songs – such as Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, I saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus and When a Child is Born – before inviting the Friends to join in with some traditional Christmas carols.  This was followed by a rendition of White Christmas from our own Friends’ Choir.

While everyone enjoyed refreshments of tea, coffee and sandwiches – not to mention some festive Christmas tree shortbread, Father Christmas mingled with the Friends distributing a gift to everyone.  In this he was very ably assisted by his trusty reindeer, Rudolph – as the pictures below bear witness!

A raffle, raising £178.00, was drawn at the end of the afternoon.

It goes without saying that all those present owe a debt of gratitude to the hard work of the Social Committee for putting on such an enjoyable afternoon and, of course, to Santa’s helpers for wrapping all those presents!
