Patrick Marber’s first – and award winning – play Dealer’s Choice certainly offered the disappointingly small Devonshire Park audience something different on the opening night of their run at Eastbourne and they probably learnt something about the game of Poker too!  The warning ‘contains strong language’ was an understatement, but clearly this six-strong, all male cast enjoyed acting out this tale of male camaraderie and gambling obsession.  Despite the profane language, there was much to like about the play – with some brilliant performances all round.

It was, therefore, with some uncertainty that the group of Friends gathered in the theatre bar to welcome Patric and his cast after the performance.

It is always a delight to entertain talkingScarlet and certainly this was no exception.  Clearly any reservations about the evening were quickly dissipated as the cast mingled and chatted with the Friends gathered to chat with them.  It was also good to see our Patron, Kevin Pallister, who had joined the audience that night.
