The Devonshire Park Theatre was opened to the public for tours of the theatre on Sunday 15th July. Five tours were carried out between 10am and 3pm and visitors to the Theatre were told about the history of the Theatre since its opening in 1884 up to the present day, including information on the very popular Safety Curtain designed by Michael Stringer.  They were then given a backstage tour of the Theatre where members of Eastbourne Theatres staff were present to explain the workings of all the backstage equipment. Tea and refreshments were included in the tour and everyone who attended said how much they had enjoyed the experience. Further “Open Days” at the theatre will continue to be held from time to time over the coming months
